Free KUFI or Chemo Hat Pattern for the brave fighters in our lives!

Ok as promised here is the free pattern for my version of the Kufi hat. This pattern is free and you can do with it what you want (except sell it as your own pattern ANYWHERE) but please try and donate a hat to someone in your life that needs a little comfort during Chemo or to your local hospital/organization. I've made quite a few hats out of this pattern but if you find any mistakes (I'm only human) or if you have any questions, feel free to contact me!


* Using worsted weight yarn (I recommend Carron simply soft) - you can get 2 hats out of one skein of Carron Simply Soft.
* Size I hook ( I crochet tight so if you are loose crocheter use a smaller hook)
* Use a stitch marker to mark your rounds, this pattern is worked without joining

Round  1:  use the magic circle or ch2, 6HDC in circle or 2nd ch from hook
Round   2:  2hdc in each st around (12)
Round   3:  1hdc, 2hdc in next st around (18)
Round   4:  1hdc in next two sts, 2hdc in next st around (24)
Round   5:  1hdc in next three sts, 2hdc in next st around (30)
Round   6:  1hdc in next four sts, 2hdc in next st around (36)
Round   7:  1hdc in next five sts, 2hdc in next st around (42)
Round   8:  1hdc in next six sts, 2hdc in next st around (48)
Round   9:  1hdc in next seven sts, 2hdc in next st around (54)
Round 10:  1hdc in next eight sts, 2hdc in next st around (60) (your work should measure 7" across)
Round 11 - 13:  Hdc around (if you want a thicker band at the bottom of hat only do 2 rounds of hdcinstead of 3 here and add a sc round to round 18)
Round 14: slp st to first hdc of previous round, ch2, 3dc in same space as ch2, skp 3 sts 4dc in nxt, *skp 3 sts, 4dc in nxt st* around
Round 15 - 17: slp st to ch2 of previous round, slp st to the space between the 2nd and 3rd DC, ch2, 3dc in same space, *skp 3 sts, 4dc in nxt st between the 2nd and 3rd dc of next shell* around
Round 18: hdc in top of ch2 of previous round, hdc around (60) (check your hat for length, if you want it longer then add one more round of hdc or sc depending on how you want it)
Round 19: sc around (60), skp 1 sc, slp st in next sc, FO, weave in ends
